Fahrenheit 9/11 - No Suprise

Moore's movies usually have a pretty straightforward theme. He makes a blunt point and then beats you over the head with it. This movie is a bit more subtle and makes many points. One that came through loud and clear to me was peoples’ ignorance regarding the Bush family and what they are up to. The ruthless pursuit of money and power by, of all people, the Bush's (Oh, my God!) should not surprise anyone. That they and the Saudis are willing to operate with such blatant sinister intent should be a revelation to no one, they've been doing it for decades. What continues to amaze me is just how ignorant the American People are (myself included at many times and with many subjects). The vast majority of events in Moore's film happened within the last few years and most of the Bush history reviewed in the film has resurfaced numerous times in many major media outlets within the same time period. We shouldn't be shocked at all. This is our history and it will be written as such. What should continue to surprise us from this movie is the clear cataloguing of our government working against the interests of the American People; instigating unnecessary wars resulting in the deaths of our brave soldiers, degrading our civil liberties through ill-conceived legislation crammed through Congress without debate, withholding of information and stonewalling congressional oversight by the executive branch, possibly even incitement of terrorism. Now more than ever we need a real leader with real experience & expertise in foreign affairs & national security who will operate in an honest and transparent fashion as President. That man is John Kerry and Moore's film reminds us just how important it is that each of us, as patriots, do whatever we can to help John Kerry become the next President of the United States. The stakes are high.
